Privacy Policy

This policy explains what deepinthe.space collects, why it is collected, how long it is kept, and the choices available to you.

1. Who we are

This website is operated by the publisher of deepinthe.space. The operator is responsible for the processing described in this policy.

Questions about this policy can be sent through the contact page.

deepinthe.space is a public educational website. It is currently non-monetized. If the operator or hosting arrangements change, this policy will be updated.

2. What we collect

Server and security logs

Our hosting and security provider processes technical information needed to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, such as the requested URL, time of request, browser type, and a network address. These logs are used for operations, security, and debugging.

Contact messages

If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, subject, message, submission time, and limited technical metadata (such as a hashed network address and user agent) needed to operate the form and prevent spam. Those details are used to answer you and keep a record of the conversation.

Analytics

The site does not currently load third-party advertising, behavioural tracking, or analytics scripts. If privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics are introduced, they will load only after you accept optional analytics in the cookie banner, and this section will name the provider and describe the data.

Preferences stored in your browser

Your theme choice and cookie consent choice are stored locally in your browser. They are functional storage, not advertising identifiers, and are not sent to us automatically.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

We aim to use as little browser storage as possible. The current site uses local storage for preferences and may use essential cookies set by our hosting or security provider.

4. Why we process data, and on what basis

  • Providing the website — our legitimate interest in operating a secure, reliable educational service (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f); Swiss FADP equivalent).
  • Answering a contact message — steps taken at your request before a possible contract or our legitimate interest in responding (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)/(f)).
  • Optional analytics — your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Legal obligations — where we are required to retain or disclose information by law (GDPR Art. 6(1)(c)).

5. Retention

  • Contact messages: kept for up to 24 months after the conversation ends, unless a longer period is needed for a legal claim or you ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Server and security logs: retained for the short period configured by the hosting provider, normally no more than 30 days, unless needed for a security investigation.
  • Analytics: aggregate reports do not identify individual visitors and may be retained in aggregate form.
  • Browser preferences: remain until you clear them or change your choice.

6. Sharing and processors

We do not sell personal data. We use service providers to host and protect the site and to store contact messages. Current providers include:

  • Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, security, and, when enabled, Pages Functions, D1 storage, Turnstile, and Web Analytics.

Providers act on our instructions and are bound by their own data-processing terms. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of the site and its users.

7. International transfers

The site is delivered through a global content network. Data may therefore be processed in countries other than Switzerland or the European Economic Area. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate data;
  • request deletion of your data;
  • request restriction of processing, or object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent for optional analytics at any time; and
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

In Switzerland, the competent authority is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). If you are in the EU/EEA, you may contact your local supervisory authority.

To exercise a right, contact us through the contact page. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

9. Children

This site is intended for a general audience, including families and classrooms. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 through the site. If a child sends a contact message, a parent or guardian should ask us to delete it. Teachers should not ask pupils to submit personal information through the form.

10. Security

We use HTTPS, access controls, and reputable hosting providers. No online service is perfectly secure, so please avoid sending sensitive personal information through the contact form. If you believe there is a security issue, please report it privately through the contact page.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or its providers change. The date at the top shows the current version. Material changes will be announced on this page, and where appropriate through the cookie banner.

12. Contact
